An effective manager is concerned about:

-          Getting the job done
-          Employee satisfaction


Autocratic
Democratic
Laisser faire
Description
Managers take control of all situations and dictate how things are to be done.
Managers consult with employees and involve them in decision making and problem solving.
Gives employees full freedom, lifting then to do as they wish.
Positives
-Useful when quick decisions and close control are needed.
-Good for sub-par employees.
-Good for jobs with less skill
-Builds team spirit through involvement.
-Increases job satisfaction.
-Employees function better when manager is away.
-Useful when employees are high skilled.
-Can build independence and self-confidence.
-Good teaching tool if followed up by discussion and review.
Negatives
-Employees may become over-dependent.
-Manager can lead to backflash.
-Often slow down decisions and production.
-Sometimes hard to be the boss.
-Only effective if employees are worthy.
-Loose organization with lack of control.
-Low level of respect and authority when are needed.
-No guidance can reduce output or increase inefficiency.
