Cell cycle

Cell reproduces through a continuous sequence of growth and division known as the cell cycle.
The cell cycle has two main stages:
Growth stage
-         Interphase
o       Longest part of the cell cycle
o       Cell performs its normal fuctions
o       DNA is copied and duplicated in a process call DNA replication.
o       More organelles are duplicated.

Division stage: it produces two genetically identical daughter cells.
-         Mitosis
o       The division of the contests of the nucleus (DNA is divided).
-         Cytokinesis
o       The division of the rest of the cell organelles (cytoplasm, cell membrane, ribosome…)

Timeline
The timing of the cell and the lengths of the different phases depend on the type of cell and its environment.
