Muscle tissue

Muscle tissue is composed by bundles of long cells than contain specialized proteins capable of contracting in response to stimulation.
It cannot lengthen by itself but is lengthened by the contraction of other muscles.

Types
-         Involuntary
o       Forms stomach and intestinals.
o       Surrounds the blood vessels where it controls the distribution of blood.

-         Skeletal
o       Voluntary
o       The cells are very long, extending the length of the muscle. They are multinucleate and striated.
o       Most skeletal muscles are joining ligaments and tendons.

-         Cardiac
o       Involuntary
o       Found at the heart
